Voluntary Action Islington's Higher Management Apprenticeships

Voluntary Action Islington is working in partnership with Learning Skills Network (LSN) to promote funding for Higher Management Apprenticeships

Voluntary Action Islington is working in partnership with Learning Skills Network (LSN) to promote funding for Higher Management Apprenticeships to employers in the central London Boroughs. Access to adult funding, professionalising staff, Leadership & Management and Equality are areas employers tell us are important to them.  This offer can support all of these areas.

The qualification for which adult funding is available is the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Leadership and Management.

The programme is made up of a competence element - an NVQ certificate in management, and a vocational skills element - a VRQ certificate in leadership and Management. Candidates will also receive an endorsement of functional skills (English, maths and IT) as part of their programme.  This is an internationally recognised qualification, accredited through the Institute of Leadership and Management and will offer successful candidates the opportunity to further progress their education to level 4 and 5 Qualifications if so desired.

The programme is delivered through LSN’s unique blended model, which will include access to Voluntary Action Islington’s new online learning platform – the Voluntary Action Academy.

On the open market an employer would pay around £37,500 for a cohort of 15 learners – this funding will reduce the cost to the employer by, on average £30,000, to around £7,500 for a cohort of 15. In certain cases, subject to funding availability, the cost will be as little as £250 per person.

Sadly, funding is not available to people who have an existing level 3 qualification or higher (on the Qualifications Curriculum Framework). LSN will be able to offer advice on eligibility.

The programme should take 9-12 months to complete.  By completing this form you are agreeing to;

  • Put forward a minimum of one group of learners with a minimum group number of 15 learners
  • To pay the employer contribution for this group
  • To liaise with LSN on booking the programmes and all other arrangements
  • To commit line manager time to assist the programme by releasing staff from their duties to attend training sessions and to support their progression

Voluntary Action Islington agrees to;

  • Pass this form and your central contact details to LSN promptly in order that your request is given priority
  • To monitor uptake up of the offer across the central London Voluntary sector to ensure all have the opportunity to get involved
  • To monitor progress between LSN and sector employers to ensure that the process is smooth and efficient

For an Application Form see here. Please return this form via email to elinor.hopson-hill@vai.org.uk or fax to 0207 832 5835.
