Voluntary and Community sector groups and organisations need to ensure that they have all the ‘basics’ in place to help in improve the way they operate in order to:

• ensure their survival and effectiveness
• meet current legislation and put in place systems and procedures which are
• most likely to meet the requirements of funders
• have sound organisational management
• have short and long-term plans in place, and
• capture all the information that can demonstrate the difference their organisation makes.

This is designed to be used by both new and emerging groups and those already established, containing suggestions of good practice.
