Brent Young People Thrive (BYPT) is a social movement which aims to work with children and young people and their families to challenge stigma around mental health by exploring issues related to mental and physical health.
BYPT is funded by Brent NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and is aimed at changing the perception and experience of mental health and emotional wellbeing for Brent children, young people and their families.
By raising awareness of mental health and exploring associated issues among children, young people and their families, the aspiration is that they will feel empowered to challenge the stigma around mental ill health and when required, seek help early.
BYPT is engaging with schools, GPs, children, families, local communities, voluntary sector organisations: Brent CVS, Brent Parent Carers Forum, Brent Young Carers, Brent Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL), Healthwatch Brent, Mind in Brent and Targeted Mental Health in Schools (TaMHS) and Young Brent Foundation.
Children and young people are central to their own mental health and wellbeing, and this project aims to capture the voice of the child and identify key themes that will inform the development and transformation of mental health services for them.
